Training

Milwaukee Police Foundation

The Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) provides all its officers comprehensive diversity training, aided by the financial support of the Milwaukee Police Foundation.

Training programs like RITE Academy emphasize introspection, encouraging officers to examine their biases. Effective communication and de-escalation tactics are also taught so that officers have the tools to manage high-pressure situations.

The Milwaukee Police Department also actively engages with the Collaborative Reform Initiative Technical Assistance Center (CRI-TAC) program. CRI-Tac provides technical assistance using leading experts in public safety, crime reduction, and community policing.

Additionally, MPD’s Crisis Intervention Team training equips officers to handle situations involving individuals in mental crises with competency and sensitivity.

The Milwaukee Police Foundation strongly believes that an inclusive and culturally sensitive police force is crucial to equip our officers with the tools needed to protect and serve Milwaukee.
