The Milwaukee Police Department is committed to protecting and serving our city. Fulfilling this commitment can become challenging when facing staffing limitations. While salaries may seem like a large part of the police budget, it reflects a department striving to protect over 550,000 citizens with only 1,886 officers.
That’s an average of one police officer to every 298 people!
In order to serve our community in the best way, the Milwaukee Police Foundation provides support for the MPD by maximizing resources, providing training, and funding community initiatives.
Since 2019, we have contributed over $300,000 to the Milwaukee Police Department with the help of generous donations. Some of our initiatives include the installation of bulletproof glass in all police stations, the implementation of Judge Derek Mosley’s training program, and funding for National Night Out, Coffee With a Cop, and local food pantry donations.
Milwaukee police officers receive around 50,000 911 calls a month! The Milwaukee Police Department operates in a fast-paced environment, tackling up to 1,600 calls a day. The volume of these calls often puts strain on the limited number of resources and officers available. The Milwaukee Police Foundation aims to fund additional resources so the police department can focus on serving our community.
